The President attends the opening of the ‘Erudyt’ education and fitness centre in the Poltava area

Viktor Yanukovych, the President of Ukraine and Dmytro Tabachnyk, Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sport, attended the opening of the Erudyt education and fitness centre, part of the Makarenko Teaching College, in the village of Potoky in the Kremenchuk district of Poltava area.
"Our children are our future, and gifted children are those who will lead the others" - Viktor Yanukovych said during the ceremony. He expressed his hopes that the school fosters future academics, engineers, and the builders of modern Ukraine.
The President thanked all those who had endeavoured to implement the idea of creating such an educational centre.
The Head of State also presented the staff and pupils of the Erudyt education and fitness centre at the Makarenko Teaching College with new modern equipment.
Viktor Yanukovych visited the classrooms and other facilities of the complex. The Head of State also described the preconditions for selection of children to study at the school.
BACKGROUND
The Erudyt education and fitness centre was created by the Order of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich, dated 22 July 2010, to provide year-round health care for orphans and children deprived of parental care. The centre was established on the basis of a private boarding school in the village of Potoky. The total construction cost was 8 million UAH, funded by the State Budget.
The institution is now engaged in year-round health care and education of gifted children. The complex includes academic and dormitory buildings, dining facilities, a sport and games village with a football pitch with artificial turf, a gymnasium facility and a square for sports games.
